"When I completed my MCh Neurosurgery from SGPGIMS Lucknow, I witnessed the immense suffering of patients from Uttarakhand — patients with brain tumours, spinal injuries, strokes — travelling to Delhi or Lucknow because no neurosurgeon existed in the entire state.
In 1994, I established the first comprehensive Neurosciences Centre in Uttarakhand — not for personal gain, but because my community deserved better. I declined offers to migrate abroad and returned from a specialised observership at Cleveland Clinics, USA in 1996, choosing to serve Uttarakhand instead. Over 4,000 brain and spine operations later, that decision remains the greatest of my life.

"I believe that quality women's healthcare is not a privilege — it is a right. After earning my FRCOG fellowship from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, and training in IVF in Singapore and Malaysia, I returned to Dehradun to serve my community.
In 2002, I established the first Colposcopy Centre in Uttarakhand. In 2008, I founded IVF India CARE, bringing advanced fertility treatments to Dehradun. Through our work, thousands of women across Uttarakhand have received high-quality, compassionate women's healthcare — often for the first time.
